Abstract | The purpose of the thesis is to compare key performances of Third-Party-Logistics-Service (3PLs) and traditional warehouse systems. The tradeoffs are necessary to make a decision for which type of warehouse (3PLs or Traditional) is more suitable for the company. Third-Party-Logistics-Service (3PLs) or Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) is an approach to improve customer service and reduce inventory cost. This study compares the traditional warehouse with Third-Party-Logistics system: The key performance indicators are reorder amplification, time benefit, holding cost, shortage cost and service level. A simulation model was built with ARENA. The model was simulated with data from an electronic company. The result indicates that 3PL system is superior based on the key performance indicators. |
