AbstractPackaging and board technology have important role in the field of recycling and reuse. Day by day, this technology is glooming in both technology and market. American OCC with high quality fibers is prominent material in America that why it was chosen for the thesis. This research was performed to enhanced compression strength in accordance with other strength properties which are weaker than compared to virgin fibers. Handsheet were made in different consistency to see effect of flocculation on the compression strength in relation to the other strength properties. The thesis points out that the higher consistency, the worse formation lead to reducing in tensile strength, compression strength and internal bond. Three layer structure had lower strengths compared to one layer structure. Fines less sheets had much weaker strengths than fines containing sheets and higher than sheets less fiber in Mesh 200. Handsheet were made in high consistency former to compare their strength to handsheet which were made in laboratory handsheet former. Tensile stiffness of HC handsheets was lower than the SH handsheets. Tensile stiffness of handsheets made from HC reduced inappreciably with increasing of consistency while those made from SH decreased significantly. Handsheet made from SH is affected by consistency more seriously than handsheet made from HC. No significant difference in the magnitude of internal bond strength between the SH or HC handsheets. The thesis also finds out that compression strength, internal bond can be improved significantly by using oriented fibers. Influence of primary fines and secondary fines on formation was significant only until 20% of fines addition. With fines addition until 20%, the formation was better lead to better tensile strength, compression strength, internal bond. Quality of fines had strongly effect on formation, tensile strength, compression strength and internal bond. Strength properties of primary fines added handsheets were higher than those of secondary added handsheets. Fines placement had strongly effect on strength properties. 20% fines amount in the center were the optimum amount to get best of strength properties. Compression strength was affected by fines placement stronger than tensile strength. The higher amount of Sw charge added, the higher strength. Addition of refined Sw charge cause significant improved in formation. Tensile strength increased 25% with addition of 6000 rev refined Sw. Compression strength of paper which made from mixing with refined Sw are higher than that of paper made from mixing with unrefined Sw about 50%.
