Abstract | In most of the developing countries in Asia, such as Vietnam, rice transplanting is done by hands. Manual transplanting is tedious, time consuming and expensive method. Hence this study is focused on.the development of self-propelled rice transplanter, suitable for Northern Vietnam. In this research, rice transplanter 2ZT-9356 manufactured in China was modified and tested under Vietnam conditions. This study focused on modification of the power transmission components. Also, the distance between two rows (hill-to-hill spacing) was modified to 250 mm. Performance of the modified machine was evaluated under different puddling states, age of seedling, density of seedling, and velocity of operation. The factors such as number of hills per unit area, hill-to-hill spacing, number seedlings per hill, depth of transplanting, seedling floatation and seedling damage were considered. Modified machine gave good results in soil with two days after puddling, seedling age of 16 days, 1 kg/m² density of and 1.62 km/h average velocity of operation machine. Percentage of missing hills, floating and damage seedling were low. Modified rice transplanter had field capacity of 0.13 ha/h, field efficiency of 52.96 percent and fuel consumption of 0.6 liter per hour. |
