AbstractFiber reinforced composite materials have many advantages over traditional construction materials. The use of FRP composite structures is growing very rapidly around the world. The need of light weight structural elements with high stiffness for bridge applications and trucking industry increase the demand for construction technology made of composite materials. FRP pultruded tubes are easy to fabricate and can be easily assembled for different applications. In this paper, FRP tube assemblies of variable size, fiber material, tube wall thickness are studied analytically and experimentally. ALGOR software is used to analyze a bridge deck as an appropriate application of the FRP tubes. A single tube and the two-tube assembly are experimentally installed. Compared to the experimental results, the numerical analysis shows good correlation. Data gained in this study can be used for preliminary design of FRP tube assemblies for bridge deck construction and similar application in civil engineering
