AbstractInternational non government organizations and local non government organizations are operating in Myanmar and most of them have emerged during the 1990s. Nowadays, Myanmar women played an integral role in the social, economics and development activities. However, they are not including in decision making process and they never reach top level positions in organization as well as society. According to the Myanmar culture, Myanmar women accept "son as a master and husband as a god". Most of the Myanmar women satisfy their position in their working environment, and then some women compete with male staff. In the patriarchal households where the ethnic cultural norms were so strict that Kachin and Chin ethnic women were not able to initiate their own interest. Most of the Kachin and Chin ethnic women have sacrificed their entire life and one step lower than men automatically. This study intended to assess how the organizational structure and culture affect the roles, participation and work experience of women in local development NGO in Yangon, Myanmar. Furthermore, it aimed to characterize the organization in terms of male dominance and masculinized or gender equal culture.
