| Abstract | The region of South East Europe, a region commonly associated with conflicts and instability, is nowadays sensibly moving towards economical growth and political stabilization. However, to be able to make a respectful progress in these areas, the region needs a considerable amount of capital and resource inflow, combined with technology transfer. As the most recent studies of United Nations show, foreign direct investments (FDI) take up a prevailing part of the capital and resource inflows in developing countries (Appendix I). Furthermore, studies show that FDI is the main vehicle of technology transfer in developing countries. In the beginning of 21" century, countries in South East Europe are facing the challenge of how to resist the tough competition on global level for attracting FDI. To be able to construct an effective strategy of increasing its competitiveness for attracting FDI, each country in the region should be aware what are the key determinants of the FDI attractiveness of SEE. In this sense, our research aims at first finding out through a correlation and regression analysis, what are the key determinants of the FDI attractiveness of the region of SEE, then make an exploration of the region, based on these key determinants, and finally give recommendations for improving its FDI attractiveness |
