AbstractThe research investigates basic franchise theories and the application of franchise to the market of Vietnam especially in retail and fast food market. The franchise industry of Vietnam is infancy with some international and local franchisors up to now. The main reason is that Vietnam has not been a member of WTO and just has regulations about franchise in 2006. The issuance of regulations for franchising in the Commercial Law which is in effect from 1 January 2006 will helps more and more local companies go into this new kind of business With appearance of some international franchisors like KFC, Lotteria, Jollibee, etc. in Vietnam up to now, Vietnamese people has great chance to access and familiar to branded products. Local companies in fast food industry also recognize the important of expanding brand name through franchise. Nevertheless, the manner each local franchisor conduct different because they lack of experience, background of franchise. As a result, this can cause some unexpected result for them in short term and long term to manage franchise network. Therefore, the research examines the franchise method of Pho24, one of pioneer of fast food industry of Vietnamese noodle, has been successful up to now. Internal and external factors that affect to Pho24's franchise strategy as well as the manner of franchise are analysed. The research study also gives recommendations to Pho24 in particular and for local franchisors in general
