Abstract | Vietnamese handicraft villages have a huge potential development with their delicate products, skillful and clever craftsmen. Besides, with the continuous economic development and the increase in the number of international tourists and domestic tourists, the tourism industry also will remain high, offering many business opportunities. One of those opportunities is the cooperation between the two industries: establishing the handicraft village based tourism. This form of cooperation can help to increase income, create more jobs, and contribute to poverty reduction in the rural area and bring many advantages in the marketing aspects, thus, recently it receives great support from the government of Vietnam. However, Vietnamese handicraft villages not only have opportunities and strengths, but also face to many threats and weakness, such as the competitiveness come from other handicraft products and villages along Vietnam and neighboring countries, and especially the lack of linkages between the two industries, lack of marketing skills and experiences. Thus, the purpose of this study is to design an appropriate, clear and effective development strategies for handicraft villages based tourism in Vietnam, in order to develop them in a right way. And the Kim To village in Nha Prang City of Vietnam is the project that the study tried to approach, examine and design the strategies for its development |
