Abstract | Code acquisition of optical orthogonal codes (OOC) in optical CDMA (O-CDMA) systems is investigated in this research study. A novel approach based on an existing twolevel serial search algorithm is introduced for code acquisition. We analyze the performance of our proposed strategy using the Markov chain model. We focus on the simple active correlator receiver structure for further discussions and analysis. Results show that our proposed acquisition strategy is advantageous in reducing the mean acquisition time when compared with the existing two-level serial search algorithm. We also investigate the effects of different code parameters on mean acquisition time |
