Abstract | Differences in the "investment climate" have recently gained centre stage in explaining variations in competitiveness, growth and prosperity across countries or regions. This work presents the top down approach to investment which begins with looking at the global investment scenario and narrows down to one country. Then it involves finding the best sectors or industries within that country which hold promise for long term growth and then searching for companies within those sector that are expected to perform well. This paper focuses on the investment attractiveness of India and narrows down Telecom Infrastructure sector within the country. India is the fourth largest economy and the tenth most industrialized country. A series of ambitious economic refo1ms aimed at deregulating the economy and stimulating foreign investment has moved India firmly into the front runners of the rapidly growing Asia Pacific Region .India represents vast untapped potential and offers an unprecedented opportunity for telecom service providers, infrastructure vendors, manufacturers and associated value added service providers. The telecom sector is steering the economy towards increased liberalization and unleashing the pent-up potential for growth. This solid foundation is beneficial to the investors and they can look to capture gains of the Indian telecom boom. |
