AbstractThe vibration of machine causes the damage to itself and its support mechanism and makes it become unusable. This dissertation showed that the machine had to be in a state of balance, i.e. the mass had to be evenly distributed around the rotating centerline so that the resultant vibration was at a minimum. Therefore the maximum service life could be achieved. As machines become bigger and run faster, the effect of the unbalance is more and more severe. A level of unbalance that is acceptable at a low speed is completely unacceptable at a higher speed. This is because the unbalance condition produces a centrifugal force, which increases as the speed increases. Therefore, it causes vibration of the bearings. Prolonged exposure to the vibration results in damage and lifetime of the machine is decreased. This dissertation will mention to the vibration measurement methods, phase measurement, data acquisition and analysis and diagnose the vibration problems of rotating machine. Applied balancing method is influence coefficient vector, which can be programmed by computer. In addition, the modal method and the traverse are presented in case of the flexible rotor when the phase measurement is not available. Identifying, correcting the mass distribution and thus minimizing the force and resultant vibration is the technique known as dynamic balancing
