AbstractRecycling of old corrugated box for making liner board for different end use is the right step to become enviromnent friendly. American aee with high quality fibers is prominent material in America that is why it was chosen for the thesis. This research was performed to enhanced compression strength in accordance with other strength properties which are weaker virgin fibers. Hand sheet were made in different consistency to examine the effect of flocculation on the compression strength in relation to the other strength properties. The thesis points out that the higher consistency, the worse formation lead to reducing in tensile strength, compression strength and internal bond. Three layer structures had lower strengths compared to one layer structure. Fines less sheets had much weaker strengths than fines containing sheets (back water circulated hand sheet). Hand sheet were made in Formette dynamique former to compare their strength to hand sheet which were made in laboratory former. Tensile stiffness of hand sheets made from hs former reduced inappreciably at a particular consistency as compared to Formette sheet. The thesis also finds out that compression strength, internal bond can be improved significantly by using oriented fibers. If hand sheet could be prevented from shrinkage or even stretched in the cross direction of a laboratory or formette dynamique former hand sheet, the tensile property of the hand sheet could be substantially increased and more remarkable and positive achievement can be viewed in the cross machine direction for hand sheet, and it is also possible to remove undesired cross machine direction variation in paper or board properties. Tensile strength property, compression strength and ring crush increased and elongation decreased with strain during drying. But there is a negative impact on Z - strength property in a restrain dried sample .This all aspects is reversed for free dried sample except than gain in Scott bond due to felted structure in free drying. Forming and testing hand sheet in tropical as well as in standard condition adequately is the study related to investigate the performance of a liner board for a box. The tropical condition made liner is not suitable for strength property except for Z- strength. This study shows that at higher humidity and temperature tensile strength, compression strength and ring crush have negative trend, but at the same time there is a positive trend observed for all these parameter in standard condition dried and tested liner
