AbstractThis experiment includes cooking, screening, O2 delignification, ozone delignification, EOP, final bleaching, handsheet making and paper testing. Raw material is Indonesian acacia pulp. There are two different cooking conditions used to achieve two different cooing kappa numbers. Both one stage and two stages were applied. Four pulps with different kappa number after O2 delignification are produced. Both ozone delignification and EOP were carried out in the CRS 1030 bleaching reactor. D0 and D1 were done in plastic bags placed in water bath. Handsheet making was done. Viscosity of ozonated pulp is much lower than that of reference bleaching. Selectivity of ozone toward lignin is very poor. At same ozone charge, pulp with higher incoming kappa number has higher viscosity. Ozone delignification requires low incoming kappa number, with high ozone dose. g. Ozonated pulp is easy to beat. For acacia pulp, ozonation does not give high effects on strength properties even with much lower viscosity. Incoming kappa number does not show big effects on strength properties. Both bulk and light scattering coefficient reduce with the increasing refining degree. But ozonation does not show any effects on both. Incoming kappa number also does not give effects on both
