Abstract | Labor export plays a significant role in solving jobs for unemployed or underemployed Vietnamese workers and reducing the domestic unemployment rate. Remittances Vietnamese overseas workers sent home contribute to improving their and their families living condition and developing the domestic economy. Vietnam government considers developing labor export activities as one of goals of the national strategy. However, labor export activities of Vietnam in past years still not meet expectation of the government, companies and employees. Competitive capacity of Vietnamese workers in the international labor market in general and in four main labor receiving markets of Vietnam including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia is still weak and their quality has not met requirements of these receiving countries yet. Hence, to improve labor export in general and increase competitive capacity of Vietnamese workers in the international market, Vietnam government and Vietnamese enterprises conducting labor export activities should carry out several policies to support Vietnamese overseas workers as well as to improve their quality and reduce the percentage of breach of labor contracts of Vietnamese overseas workers. |
