| Abstract | During the last two decades, there are various developments in the area of mobile devices and image processing. Many new embedded devices are created to support the new findings in this area and mobile phone device is definitely one good example of them. Besides keeping all of the related personal information, mobile phone is now becoming an information linkage to the world by itself. This research explores a technique which made the mobile device as a 3D image mapping system. This approach allows the user to view the surrounding to find a way from current position to the required destination on the mobile phone. The proposed method utilizes existing OpenGL on a Symbian Operating System for mobile phone to implement a software layer which allows the user to view a typical 3D model. This model will represent the mapping area of the required surrounding. The surrounding can be viewed at various positions within the surrounding area. To demonstrate the capabilities of the software, a mapping of BTS (Bangkok Transit System) Siam Station is implemented. In addition, the user can use the simulated 3D image of the BTS Siam Station to move around from the current position to the required destination |
