| Abstract | This research is to review the structures of IT strategy planning and then to show steps by steps how to develop an IT strategy. According to the current IT status and the gap between business plan and IT capacities, an organization should define the importance and major steps in development of information, application, infrastructure and organization of its IT strategy. In this study, the development IT strategy planning for Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) for 2008-2011 is proposed as a case study of how to develop an IT strategy. This research analyzed IT context in EVN such as current IT architecture, current IT initiatives, IT performance and IT cost that help to bring out more detailed picture of information, application, services, IT infrastructure and IT organization of EVN. According to the current IT and IT analysis, this study suggests some recommendations for the development of information, application and service strategy in general level, electricity generation and telecommunication areas. Finally, this study also suggests the recommendations related to IT infrastructure and IT organization for EVN. |
