| Abstract | A vlog is a website which provides text, image, video and additional meta data posts for distributing information as an asynchronous communication medium. An online community provides a connected network where people can share their ideas with trusted people using asynchronous and synchronous communication methods. Consequently, it is important to determine the communicative efficiency within the specific online community. A survey was conducted in a traditional classroom of Institute of Medicine, Mandalay, Myanmar in order to figure out the communication problems. To address the problems found in that traditional learning environment, vlog was applied as an asynchronous communication tool in an e-Leaming environment. The blog publishing software called B2evolution together with PHP and MySQL were used to develop a vlog for a traditional course at Institute of Medicine and it has been installed at the study site for three months for an anatomy course for teaching second year medical students. The postvlog survey was conducted evaluate the students' and instructor's experience in using vlog. The results of the study showed the effective usage of vlog which will reduce communication problems in traditional classrooms. The study will be useful for any community who wants to launch vlog as a communication channel. |
