Abstract | A cursory review of the national tourism environment in Myanmar revealed the fact that tourism development is still in its infancy, impeded by various constraints. The national government is committed to poverty reduction as their primary development goal and has identified the development of the tourism industry as a key instrument in meeting this goal. A diversification of the tourism product is expected to more effectively distribute income generated by tourism. Diversification can only take place when the Ministry of Hotel and Tourism is capable of planning, managing and promoting tourism, which up to now has not been the case. Data was obtained from in-depth personal interviews with the government official of Ministry of Hotel and Tourism and the Conservation Committee of Inle Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to provide an assessment of Inle Lake (Inle Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary) in order to propose strategies for planning development in tourism of this area. According to the analysis of this research study, the strength, weakness, opportunities and threats were found out the improvements needed for the future development were recommended |
