AbstractAchieving the highest levels of business performance requires a well-executed approach to visionary leadership, customer-driven excellence, organizational and personal learning, valuing employees and partners, agility, focus on the future, managing for innovation, management by fact, social responsibility, focus on results and creating value, and systems perspective. This is the foundation for integrating key business requirements within a results-oriented framework that creates a basis for action and feedback. A systems perspective means managing the whole organization, as well as its components, to achieve the success. Organizations depend on the measurement and analysis of performance. Such measurements should derive from business needs and strategy, and they should provide critical data and information about key processes, outputs, and results. Moreover, as the fertilizer industry is becoming complex in India, competition is intensifying, formal long term planning approaches have restricted applicability, hence it becomes an absolute necessity for the organizations to function in a logical manner precisely focusing on the business goals and should ensure that strategic planning is perfectly aligned with the key business drivers of the organization. This research addresses the issues of performance management in a systems' perspective, considering a particular case of Indo Gulf Fertilizers Limited (IGFL) India, an Aditya Birla group enterprise, along with, a comparative assessment of the firm, with its competitors
