AbstractThis study tries to analyze the current human resource management (HRM) practices and to identify employee satisfaction towards HRM practices Myanmar hotel industry using case study of Kandawgyi Lake Palace Hotel. The hotel is chosen, as it is believed to have an established HRM practices that might be considered as "best practice" for other hotels. The research is conducted through direct interview with human resource manager and questionnaire survey for employees. Study results show that internal recruitment and development, centralization of decisionmaking, seniority, reliance on supervisory evaluation only and downward communication arc the main characteristics of the selected hotel. Due to unsatisfactory of current economic, the hotel management currently provides more on direct compensation to its existing employees. Based on employees' survey, mostly they show high positive agreement towards the hotel HRM current practices except for compensation system. Surprisingly, although the employees' overall satisfaction shows high positive agreement, it is not for employees' organizational commitment. These findings suggest that hotel industry in Myanmar needs improvement in IIRM practices especially performance appraisal, employee relationship and compensation in order to give positive impact to the employee's satisfaction and commitment towards firm. However, the role of General Manager as the initiator is really important to ensure the successful of the objectives. Besides, it suggests that satisfaction on current job does not guarantee that the company can retain its skilled employees forever. Further research should be taken into consideration on effectiveness of training and development as well as performance appraisal relate to job performance that can give benefits to the stakeholders
