AbstractImages are often used in documents to represent people because they are easier to recognize than text. However, traditional presentations of image collections on the web provide limited support for exploring the relationships between the people. This research investigates the effectiveness of an interactive visual representation of an image collection that analyzing these relationships in the collection. This thesis uses the AIT Alumni website as a case study, specifically focusing on alumni attributes and relationships that can be used for guiding students and faculty in strategic decisions. To assess the effectiveness of the proposed approach, an interactive visual prototype was developed and evaluated in a user study. The results highlighted the effectiveness of the "knowledge-based" image navigation system in terms of users' domain undePaul Janecek (Chairperson) Prof. Dennes T.
