AbstractThis thesis considers an overall picture of "Folksonomy" and "Taxonomy" then does qualitative evaluation between two systems in addition to an integration model of faceted-folksonomy, and lastly proposes and develops a prototype system that implements the integration model for use in the context of information sharing environment. An empirical study is conducted to evaluate the efficiency, effectiveness, and usefulness of the prototype system against two systems Folksonomy and Taxonomy. The experiment, used 3 x 2 (3 systems by 2 tasks) within-subject design, focuses on comparing six features by taking subjective ratings on a 9-point Likert-type scale. The features are rated by eighteen users including (1) easy to select term( s) for classifying and saving contents, (2) interesting to use for classifying and saving contents, (3) easy to use for browsing contents, (4) interesting to use for browsing contents, (5) better in understanding of information content, and (6) useful to use in any company for sharing contents between employees who work in the same or related fields. Collected data were then analyzed by using Non-Parametric Friedman's test and post-hoc Dunn's test with a confidence interval of 95% for both. The analysis results show that the prototype system seems to be better over the remaining systems on the Features 3, 4, 5, and 6; it sits between Folksonomy and. Taxonomy system on the Features I and 2
