AbstractMany people are trying to publish on the web to extend their normal web activities of retrieving information. It makes a high demand of Content Management System which is a software system that provides the functionality to publish and manage the content easily without knowing any web publishing programming languages. Ontology, a specification of classification, brings a way to make machine to understand the meaning of things. Once the machines are understand, it could provide better or smatter services. This thesis integrates powerful ontology functions to useful Content Management System. As a result, alternative method of searching and browsing functionalities called ontology-based searching and browsing for content management system is developed. The system could automatically identify topics from the contents with the relationships between them and produce personal ontology which is local dedicated version of ontology for specific content. The personal ontology will used in ontology-based searching and browsing features of Content Management System to provide Topic-based (ontology-based) searching and browsing rather than keyword searching and normal read-the-page-and¬follow-the-link browsing
