Abstract | ShweGe Storm Water Pumping Station plays a major role in reducing the floods in Mandalay and improving the pumping capacity would reduce Nankad Lake level and secondarily the water level in the Mingalar, ShweTaChaung, and NgweTaChaung. The SGPS project is located in Mandalay, Myanmar with all the works for this contract situated in the Southern part of the city, between Nankad lake and the Irrawaddy river. Project location is at liquefaction area, high seismic zone and highly flood able area near the Myopatt highway dike Road. Moreover, project implementation comprises the involvedness of civil, mechanical, and electrical and all are significant in this project. This report concern with quality management for waste water pumping station and sub-station project form the contractor point of view. Firstly, quality control plan was studied to get knowledge concerning management project for this project. There have many factors which strengthen the projects such as the project is contracted by FIDIC, the roles and responsibilities of the contractors, owner, the engineers and the consultant firms are clearly stated and resettlement & relocation issue do not need for the project area. As the project is funded by foreign agency (ADB), the quality of project output is the first priority to be considered and enforcement. It was found that stone column foundation and flood control plan is important process in this project. Moreover, it was said that unskillful workers, unskillful and lack of communication of ESHS engineer, needs of environmental monitoring person, requirement and sludge management, current contractor’s sludge method is not sufficient, improper conditions of worker camp, Failure to plan methods and procedures including QA and to carry out contractual obligations and execute the works accordingly, Absence of key staffs during the construction hour. Therefore, a framework for SGPS project was proposed for not only this project but also the next project to have good quality with long -term by modifying current practices. Regard to the practice process, this report has also built the quality management system framework to serve as a management tool for correcting next process of this project and then developing next projects. |
