Abstract | Rapid economic growth and urbanization in developing countries lead to extensive construction activities that generate a large amount of waste. The production of large amounts of construction waste is a serious problem in many cities. Environment sustainable improvement has turned into a critical objective of construction progress and waste contro l is one of the key connections in construction. Ineffective waste control onsite leads to environmental, health, and safety problems. This research is aiming at providing an overview of the current process of generation fo r waste related to construction activities and onsite general waste handling practices in high-rise constructio n projects in Hyderabad, India and formulating strategies o n waste control. The proposed research would provide useful and constructive info rmation fo r the construction companies and parties involved and help them to achieve better planning and organiz ing in the waste control process onsite in order to achieve sustainable development. Strategies which had already been adopted by the leading construction companies in Hyderabad have been discussed in the case study. This research has also provided recommendations to control for materials like re bar, concrete, wood, brick and general waste involved in the construction projects. |
