AbstractCollaboration is an important part in e-Learning and it provides collaborative activities among students, and between instructors and students in both asynchronous and synchronous modes. Wiki is a collaborative writing tool that is accessible and modifiable by any user. It provides wiki markups for formatting and layout of wiki contents. It has been adopted to utilize the collaboration in classroom and e-Learning in asynchronous mode. The aim of this study is to develop the wiki collaboration space for e-Learning. There is a need to define the standard guidelines that provide the necessary features for wiki in e- Learning. The general requirements of system defined bye-Learning stakeholders and Media Wiki group. The system has been designed with four main modules (PI one content management system, Zwiki, ZwikiFolder, GrufSpaces) and MySQL database. The main functions are asynchronous collaborative writings, checking contributions of each student in the group and comparisons between versions of wiki pages. The contributions index is generated to provide the view for contributed contents of each student. The system is developed on open source software, Python and PHP. The MySQL database is used store contributions index and versions of wiki page. In addition, Zope server is used as a web application server for launching system. The system is applied and evaluated in e-Learning course at Language Center, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. The evaluation results show the usability magnitude and collaboration effectiveness of wiki collaboration space is higher than original wiki for collaborative writing among students for their group assignments
