Abstract | In a collaborative environment where students exchange and share ideas, a mechanism to support searching, monitoring, and analysis tasks on what they are discussing about is invaluable. The need for applying information visualization techniques in supporting these tasks is the rationale of this work. This research advocates the development of a system architecture for visualizing content and metadata implemented in a visual tool, COMETVis, for evaluation of student contribution in collaborative medical tutoring. An understanding of the high-level tasks domains and concepts and how it maps to the interface objects and actions were important considerations in the iterative development of the interface. An initial expert review of the effectiveness of the tool in supporting the tasks showed positive results |
