AbstractToday, many small private steel manufacturing enterprises in Vietnam are facing with a lot of difficulties to set up (start-up) and to compete with regional and international manufacturers/competitors. These difficulties are lacking of technical know-how knowledge in metallurgy casting process, skill-trained labor, regional and international market information, an integration into global chain values, and most remarkably is lacking of financial support. These shortages curb the domestic private enterprises to become dominant in the regional and global market. This study is focusing on Financial Feasibility Study for Steel Casting Plant in a private small company in Vietnam. It applies knowledge of project finance to study financial profitability and feasibility to support for investment decision. Project financial modelling is designed to simulate variation of operating conditions in the context of local market. Financial ratios such as payback period, Net present value NPV, Internal rate of return IRR, Debt service, Return on equity ROE, Profitability are applied to analyze potential financial performance in different scenarios. These financial indicators/tools help the project sponsor/investors to make proper investment decision and to convince the fund provider/lenders to finance for the project. Risks in investment of steel casting plant project will be discussed to identify risk factors and propose risk evaluation and control. An implementation plan to be developed to define the priority that helps to achieve the project objective and reduce risks in investment. A recommendation of key important points will be offered to provide guidelines for the investment.
