AbstractArchitectural design management is just one part on the whole process of design and construction. But it plays an important role as Architect is always lead consultant. So making sure management of architectural design process to be done correctly and effectively so that other works from other disciplines to be done smoothly. Traditional architectural design management was always challenging because all the drawings were either papers or 2D ones. There were a lot of conflicts, discrepancies within the architectural drawings themselves and between architectural drawings with other drawings of other disciplines. These were because the architects in the past manually coordinated their design and drawings with other parties. The hand-drawn or 2D drawings cannot interprete fully its design intent. These conflicts can only fully seen and resolved within 3D environment. And then BIM concept was brought into the industry since 1970s and developed through 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Now BIM is a very strong platform for design and documentation works. BIM helps architectural design management a lot more effective in terms of time, design conflicts, coordination, man power, productivity. BIM helps designer live, work and imagine in an interactive 3D environment. And with the rapid development of technology, especially 4.0 technology and AI, now with a BIM model, we can walk into it, touch and interact with the objects and really experiment the space, the building before it is built.
