Abstract | In this research, the multidimensional traffic model in a cellular network is studied. The wireless cellular networks are fast evolving into multi-service networks supporting voice, data as well as multimedia services. This research proposed a traffic model and two analytical models of multidimensional rearrangement model and overflow Equivalent Random Theory (ERT) method to analyze the relation among various parameters to study the system performance of overflow cellular mobile network. In multidimensional rearrangement model, the overflow calls are rearranged down to primary service if chatmel in primary server becomes available. For multidimensional rearrangement model, analytical fmmulations in single slot and multi-slot traffic of data calls have been derived to compute QoS parameters such as blocking probabilities of each type of calls and carried traffic. But in ERT method, estimated blocking probabilities of each type of call in single slot traffic has been developed. Simulation models in reanangement and overflow strategies are developed with Monte Carlo simulation method. The analytical models are validated with simulation results. The performance measures in this research include blocking probabilities of each type of calls, mean carried traffic and system utilization. The results shown that rearrangement model improves the system performance than overflow model. |
