Abstract | Biometrics technology, which uses physical or behavioral characteristics to identifY users, has come to attract increased attention as a means of reliable personal authentication that helps establish the identity of an actual user. Among various modalities of biometrics, fingerprints are known to have the longest history of actual use in law enforcement applications with proven performance. Most fingerprint identification system base on minutiae matching. This thesis firstly surveys current fingerprint identification algorithm and then proposes an effective identification algorithm applied with small database. The proposed algorithm follows the newly emerging technique named Gabor filterbank based matching. On the small database of 100 fingerprint images, the experimental results showed that the proposed matching technique reach the accuracy of 98.94% |
