Abstract | In hard disk driver servo systems, two or more types of controllers are used for track seeking and track following. The switching elements in these control schemes generally yield a system response not as smooth as what we would expect and thus limit the overall performance of the system. In this thesis, a new approach in control theory, named the Composite Nonlinear Feedback Control is used to overcome these limitations. The advantages as well as the limitations of the composite nonlinear feedback control theory will be investigated though simulation results using Matlab Simulink. In order to achieve robustness with this controller against input disturbances, such as vibrations, shocks and frictions a model reference adaptive compensator is used |
