AbstractAir traffic control becomes important and necessary for the operation and control of air transportation mode. Air traffic control in Thailand is operated under the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) rules. In this study, Bangkok International Airport (BIA) is taken as a study location. The air traffic control of BIA, which is controlled by controllers, is voice communication and radar. Therefore, there are some difficulties in the arrangement of the arrival aircraft sequences at the peak air traffic. This research establishes a developed computer program that can help to manage and prioritize the arrival aircraft sequences. The developed computer program is used to support the controllers' decision. The program arranges the arrival aircraft sequences that are approaching STAR areas and landing to runway in order to avoid any accidents and minimize air traffic delay time by using the Genetic Algorithm (GAs) technique in the peak air traffic period. GAs is a search optimal solution process which is set by objective functions. The presence of data structure variables and multi-objective function make the flight plans prioritization problem complex and computationally difficult to solve using traditional algorithms. GAs has emerged as an efficient technique in handling for multi-objective and difficult combinatorial flight plans prioritization problem.
