AbstractThe research attempts to study the use of living component in the rice field in Vungva village. The biodiversity of rice field plays a critical role in supporting rural livelihood of the people in the area Aquatic animals (fish, frogs, snail, prawn and insects) and plants have been important ingredient in the daily lives of Vungva people for generations, which provides food source and income generations. The major constrains of maintaining fish in the rice fields were found to be excessive fishing, increased cost, rainy season, pesticides, poultry, land use changes and lack of fish pond. The main causes of decline in animal population were catching more, raining season, cost increased, pesticide, livestock and land use change. The constraints pertaining to growth of vegetables in the rice fields are rainy season, excessive collection, and land use change, pesticides, increased cost and livestock. Though, the source of biodiversity has been seen vitally important for the communities. The number of most species decreases and only the few number of species has increased. Finally, the study puts forwards recommendation for policy action to correct current interventions in the Biodiversity conservation and sustainable use program
