AbstractThe Semantic Web initiative aims at an extension of the current web in which machines can understand the meaning of web resources. Semantic Web technology has been proposed as a key to enhance several aspects of e-learning, like annotation and adaptation to the students' needs. However, very less researches and developments consider the effect of teacher's characteristics and teaching styles for a successful learning environment. Hence, based on the same technology, a new approach is proposed to assist teachers in the process of choosing learning objects (LO) to author their own courses. The framework adaptive authoring of e-Learning objects focuses on adaptation to the teacher's profile in the process of LO selection. The underlying principle of this framework is to aid the teacher for selecting the LOs, best suited to his/her profile, among the possibly many found in a Learning Object Repository (LOR). The framework uses ontology to define domain and users. With the capabilities of inference and semantic search, the framework offers adaptive selection of learning objects based on teacher's level of knowledge and experience in the particular subject, characteristics of his/her students and teaching environment
