AbstractCDMA is an advance technology and there are more and more CDMA networks in the world. VP Telecom is one telecommunication operator in Vietnam which operates a CDMA2000-lx network. This research study focuses on methods for performance improvement of VP Telecom CDMA 2000-lx network. In this research, coverage and system throughput are two factors which are considered as performance of the network. Many methods have been proposed in order to improve the two factors. Real data is measured, collected and analyzed from VP Telecom CDMA 2000-lx network and is used to provide basis for improvement. Besides, some methods towards optimization for overall network improvement are also studied. Two methods which are used to improve system coverage are changes of the transmit power and the antenna height of BTS. These are most popular used methods. However, the transmit power is always limited in a predefine range, while we cannot increase the antenna height two much. It is similar with the method of changing the BTS antenna height for improving system throughput. And, according to the increase of downtilt angle in order to reduce adjacent channel interference for throughput improvement, the system coverage will be reduced. Those are drawback of recommended methods for CDMA network performance improvement.
