AbstractWith the popularity of electronic markets, people are changing their way of doing business using internet techniques and technologies. Electronic markets provide a large profit and competitive advantages in productivity and efficiency by connecting all the agents and thus reducing the costs of searching and transactions. Many designs are developed on how to generate and manage trust through the help of reputation management for the agents to decide whom to transact. Reputation mechanism has become an important part of electronic markets and it helps to create trust between many unknown users separated by geographical boundaries. The main objectives of this study are to discuss the problems and technologies related to online auctions such as eBay and Yahoo auction and then propose a framework for designing online reputation system that is reliable and robust in any kind of users behaviours. The performance of proposed system is compared with other systems and finally evaluated using real data. This research solves a decision making problem for any online users using Prospect theory and this theory suggests that how people make choices in situations where they have to decide between alternatives that involve risk and uncertainty. This thesis clarifies that people usually behave differently when the same problem is stated in different scenario. The design of this thesis is verified according to the evaluation done for eBay and proposed system and the way real eBay users react when the information is shown based on these systems
