| Abstract | Power Line Communication (PLC) technique based on power distribution networks is considered as an alternative and cost effective last mile access technology. PLC offers not only voice but also Internet and data services to customers over existing power line infrastructure. Transmitting signals in cable have many challenges because transmit environment is always affected by noise, impedance, temperature. However, many researches have been studied to provide HDTV, multimedia service, Internet access with high speed. In this research, chaimel characteristics, noise, transfer function of PLC network and operations of PLC are studied. Then, a PLC network is proposed and designed for a specific rural area in Vietnam. The PLC network is designed for 800 telephone lines in Binh Loi survey based on power existing systems which are supplied to each house through main line and distribution line. In the designed PLC network, each household will be offered basic telephone and Internet service with 72.5 kbit/s rate without setting up more cable systems and new infrastructure. The result shows that PLC solution is quite effective and practical to set up for rural areas, particular mountainous region. |
