AbstractOn the 26111 of December 2005, a very high earthquake stroke near Sumatra Island, Indonesia. It was followed by a tsunami. This sequence of events had destroyed everything near the coast. The telecommunication infrastrnctures were highly damaged or totally destroyed. Emergency telecommunication in case of natural disaster is quite a new domain which evolved following the technology evolution, especially the satellite communication. The national and international relief response was ve1y dependant of the telecommunication. Three international organizations specialized in emergency telecommunication (Ericsson Response [Sweden], Telecoms Sans Frontieres - TSF [France] and PACTEC [USA]) went in Banda Aceh to provide communications to other relief organizations. The local fix phone and mobile providers and the Indonesian government had organized the network repair and re-operation of local communication. They began with strategic areas then they went to the most accessible location and finished with ve1y isolated location by installing temporary equipment.
