AbstractEucalyptus chips were cooked; the kraft pulps were subjected to one and two-stage oxygen delignification processes, then kappa number of the pulps were reduced from 16.7 to 10.3 and 8.6. These kappa number pulps were subjected to different bleaching sequences to bleach to 89-91% ISO brightness. In D0EOPD1 bleaching sequences, D1 stage was substituted by Q-PO bleaching stages to study the effects on pulp properties of viscosity, HexA content, ISO brightness, brightness stability, tensile strength and tear strength. The HexA content was 60% and 58% higher in the pulp of kappa number 10.3 and 8.6 respectively in D-EOP-Q-PO bleaching sequences compare with D0-EOP-D1 bleaching processes. D-EOP-Q-PO treated pulp shows higher tear strength at a certain tensile strength. In ozone bleaching stage, different ozone charges were applied to evaluate the pulp properties on HexA content, brightness, kappa number and viscosity. Pulp properties on final brightness, brightness stability, HexA content, viscosity were examined between Z-EOP-Q-PO bleaching sequences and D0-EOP-D1 bleaching processes, also evaluated between Z-EOP-Q-PO and D-EOP-Q-PO bleaching sequences. In the bleaching sequences of Z-EOP-Q-PO and Z-EOP-D, the final viscosity, brightness, brightness stability, and HexA content were investigated. Pulps bleached with Z-EOP-D sequences show slightly higher final viscosity, easy in refining; Z-EOP-Q-PO bleached pulps show higher final HexA content, more brightness stability.
