Abstract | Lane detection is an important component of any intelligent transportation system for example a lane departure warning system which require knowledge of the vehicle with respect to lane boundary. This thesis propose a system to detect painted road lane marking using a single camera mounted inside the car. The system estimate the lane boundary in which the car is currently driving in. It also estimates the position of the car with respect to the lane boundary. The system performs well under good road conditions and good image quality. However the system performance do suffer from poorly painted lane marking, shadows and rains. |
