Abstract | A reinforced concrete structure is the most popular types of structures in the world. Many houses, building and bridges are using reinforced concrete structure in construction. But some reinforced concrete structures are corroding by many ways such as wet and dry condition near coastline, using the structures in wrong functions, degradation of concrete structures etc. Patching Repaired Method is the one method that can heal deteriorated structures to continue deterioration on slower rate. The finite element analysis was conducted to investigate the potential of finite element analysis tools to model the loaddeflection characteristics and failure modes of Repaired Reinforced Concrete Beam compare with the experimental result. Structural response predictions were performed using ANSYS, which is a finite element program widely used for the nonlinear analysis of structures. Most important of this study is the establishment of method to model the bond between concrete and repair material. The contact interfaces between concrete and repair materials were modeled by zero thickness contact elements in order to accounting the effect of interaction between compression and shear stress of contact interfaced with a constitutive law which is expressed in terms of the contact tractions and relative displacements of the two surfaces. The tension softening when the contact interface between concrete and repair materials separated have been modeled using, non-liner spring element by tension only option. The capability of the model to capture the critical crack regions, loads and deflections for various types of Repaired Reinforced Concrete Beam has been illustrated. |
