Abstract | One of the most important feasibility analyses in the pavement infrastructure initiation stage is believed to be life cycle cost consideration for the designated life period. Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) is a must-performed procedure for any road project, incorporating all the incurring and associated cost components. In this study, the objective is set to conduct the LCCA for the polymer modified asphalt pavement, which is the introduction to the Thailand pavement network construction. Again, the traditional conventional asphalt pavement type LCCA is also conducted to make the comparison analysis between both PMA type and CA type pavements, to select the most cost-effective strategy for the future considerations. Firstly, the procedures of LCCA calculations are adjusted and modified to obtain the complete and correct methodology steps in performing the LCCA in Thailand pavement network level. The main components of LCCA are gathered from the representative department and DOH, together with the experts' opinion in some crucial management process. Then, all the cost values in each year within the recommended analysis period are calculated and discounted back, using the financial interest rate. Finally, the NPV values of both pavements are obtained at the designated year to make the comparison, and it is discovered that the construction of PMA pavement type gives less maintenance interval over the long-term performance, resulting more cost-effective over the ordinary conventional asphalt pavement. |
