Abstract | Web services technology is the latest technology in the application development. They provide new business opportunities due to many advantages such as interoperability, just–in time integration and wide industry support. Software patterns are mechanism to document and share design solution in developing software. Since the Web services have its own features and standards, it is not useful to rely on the existing software patterns and development methodology. In this study Web services patterns are identified and illustrated as well as methodology to develop web services based on patterns is described. The proposed methodology covers overall lifecycle of development. This methodology covers analysis, design, implementation, testing and publishing phases. It is based on Web services patterns along with modeling techniques and framework to design service implementation. This helps in effective creation of Web services. The proposed methodology is used to develop Web services in the QandA teaching/Learning system. They are tested by client application for correctness and validity. This study also shows transition from traditional Web application to Web services based application. iii |
