AbstractData mmmg is considered as the most suited technology in discovering the student behaviors and acted as an automated assistant in helping them get better in study result. When the student information is viewed as material in data mining process, different meaningful correlations, patterns and trends can be discovered. In this study, we introduce some common data mining tasks and techniques that can be applied for universities, analyze some data mining tools especially the open source tools. Based on a selected tool, we develop a web-based data mining system relying on our suggested model,-which is named "A Data Mining Model for Universities", to classify the student performance by using Decision Tree technique, to predict the student numeric GP A by using Model Tree technique for helping them get better in studying, and to find the correlations among the courses by using Association Rule for supporting the students in registering. This model is applied for two case studies of AIT and Can Tho University
