Abstract | Increasing competition in freight forwarding service and sharp drop in sales compels many local freight forwarders, including Vietfracht to improve its performance and satisfy its customers. Unlike manufacturers, performance improvement in a service company might be a mere combination of employee attitude, perfo1mance and managerial capabilities. It gave rise to looking at the current issues of the company Human Resource Management (HRM), identifying the possible gaps between employee expectations, needs from and the management intentions toward the company Human Resource plans, which allows the company management to bridge the gaps. This research study examined the company current HRM practices as factors attributable to its employees' performance by the means of in-depth interviews with some guidelines from articles and theories in Human Resource Management. At the same time, the interviews also uncovered the company management intentions on its Human Resource Policies. The structured questionnaires tried to define employee needs and expectations. Combining the results of in-depth interviews and the quesionnaire survey, the research study indicated the possible gaps and provided some recommendations for setting up the company proper HRM policies |
