AbstractDanish companies are feeling the consequences of the almost non-existent unemployment. It's estimated. that there in Denmark alone, will be a gap of 180.000 employees over the next ten years. in order for the labour force to match the demands from employers. This imposes high demands to the companies ability to attract employees. Thus. a very critical task for companies is to understand the preferences of potential employees. The objective of this research is to add to this understanding. Based on exiting literature and qualitative research a context specific model has been designed for studying the preferences of individuals in relation to what guides their decision about what company they will join. The designed model has then been used for studying the preferences of mater program students at Copenhagen Business School. The study has been conducted by translating the model into a questionnaire that has been distributed to approximately 200 students. The empirical date are analysed along with the information from the qualitative research to create the best possible understanding of the preferences. The findings suggest, that a great number of attributes are relevant when the students make their decision, some however are more important than others. Further, the research indicates that students constitute a much more homogeneous group than expected. Finally, the research suggests that the preferences change insignificantly during the two years of study
