AbstractThe structural behaviour of a monolithic concrete beam column connection was compared with that of a new precast beam column connection. Real scale concrete specimens were cast and loaded to test their behaviour. A hydraulic jack of capacity 20Tons was used to load the specimens. The new precast column beam connection showed very high resilience and did not fail even at a loading of 20Tons. Monolithic connection failed at a loading of about 13Tons. The moment resistant capacity and the rotation resistant capacity are high in the new connection. And the new connection is practically easy to assemble in the site. It is still not completely fair to compare them with each other directly because there is a lot of steel embedded in the concrete near the connection.
