AbstractDrowsiness, fatigue and falling asleep while driving account for many deadly accidents as reported. The modern devises that capture lane irregularities while driving are expensive and beyond the capacity of ordinary vehicle owners. The objective of this study is to develop a low cost detection software by analysing lane change stability. The new method reported in this study allows monitoring driver behavior and instantly alerting drivers when they deviates from the normal lane behavior. Methodologically, this research developed an algorithm to detect and record long term stability and lane change frequency with a high degree of accuracy. It is expected that the application of the new method would help reducing the propensity towards deadly accidents.
