Abstract | Bangkok is a vehicle friendly city, although the city has full of vehicles and freeways still the city is congested. The population increase is also a reason for a congested city. But therefore the sidewalk is also congested. There are so many issues regarding to the congested sidewalk in Bangkok. One of them is constructing skywalks so that people can move faster than the sidewalks. But if we look at the construction cost it is very high. This paper analysis and compares different between skywalks and sidewalks. There are numerous ways to analyze sidewalks, but here, it is used walkability index for analyze it. Also, since all the skywalks look the same in this city, I have developed a survey questionnaire given randomly who uses the skywalks, also a pedestrian count. Provides some solution using walkability index to develop certain factors which affecting walkability. Also recommend some techniques that will help public while they walking. |
